Valentine's Day in our case, but any excuse for a celebration will do. An excellent near-champagne, with bubbles that lasted the whole meal and a good long aftertaste. One question though, if anybody at Laithwaites reads this: what exactly is in it, alongside the Chardonnay and the Chenin? The write-up on this website says Mauzac, the bottle label says Pinot Noir. Which is it?
Single bottle of 2009 purchased from the Laithwaites store within Vinopolis last week for £9.99 (on offer) to see what all the fuss is about. Lovely looking bottle and label exuding class which belies the price - thinking Dom Perignon. A quite full flavour and not flinty dry. Quite yeasty on the finish. Broad stream of bubbles. Quite light in colour. More satisfying than very cheap champagnes from the supermarkets. Worth the money although I might think twice if buying at full retail quoted at £12.99. No material complaints so duly recommended but misses a final star as I don't quite see this as being without fault or so sublime I would give up a bottle of Tattinger for it. Good champagne still has an edge for me, although I know this comes with a premium. As a standby alternative this works but it is not a replacement.
Great for a family celebration - went down well at a big birthday party, something to suit all tastes. Not as dry as some. A lovely example of festive fizz. Terrific!
Previous vintages of this Cremant de Limoux (made using the methode traditionelle, just a few miles too far South to permit Champagne - with a capital 'c' – status) have been very good; but sometimes very different. 2003 was my favourite so far. This elegant bottle would grace the most graceful of table and be a perfect gift when one is a guest. This pale gold beauty has millions of tiny bubbles, promising palate-ial pleasure. Dry, but round with a long finish: this is a keeper. This bubbly is an exceptional all-rounder: good as a toast, with canapes or carbs and especially special with seafood. Buy, buy, buy.
Absolutely fantastic value for money. Vintage champagne quality for a fraction of the price. Long-lasting, dry, biscuity flavour. A slight hint of fresh baked bread on the nose, slightly yeasty finish with pinpoint bubbles.
We've ordered this case after case, year after year and never been disappointed.

Heartily recommended.
I discovered Roche Lacour quite by chance in a mixed sparkling case from Laithwaites about a year ago. It was without doubt my favourite and I have since gone on to purchase several more cases of the wine (and am half-way through another)! Roche is definitely good value-for money – it is both delicious and it makes a refreshing and credible alternative to champagne. The stylish bottle, elegant label and unbeatable taste also make it an ideal gift. Indeed - every friend who has received one of these bottles has commented how much they enjoyed it. I heartily recommend Roche Lacour (although – to ensure a continued good supply – perhaps I should be dissuading others from trying it….). My sincere thanks to Laithwaites for introducing me to Roche Lacour and for the continued supply thereof!
Loved this wine. Everything about it was great. Would definitely buy again.

This is a great 'Champers' substitute
If Champagne is a little too pricey for you in this age of austerity, then try this - most people will never notice it is not the 'real thing'. My (very fussy) French mother-in-law was very impressed, and, believe me, that is all the recommendation you should need......
My wife and I always serve this to family and friends when ever we have a gathering. I'm not a sparkling wine fan but I always enjoy this sparkler. The price, at around £9 is a steal for champagne of this quality. All the ladies in my family love it. Great to give at birthdays. Buy half a case now or simply purchase one bottle and taste the quality for yourself... you'll love it!.

Perennial Favourite
This wine is one of our perennial favourites, especially at Christmas time (though just as good all year round, of course). Light and refreshing and goes with most light foods. Highly recommended.

A must for christmas
My wife and myself have enjoyed this drink on many occasions. It has a distinctive buttery taste, & long lasting fizz. the bubbles are a perfectly form, not too big, and fizz gently in the mouth, leaving a sherbet on the tongue type feeling. We have just ordered yet another case ready for xmas. Not sure it will last that long !!!

Perfect for a celebration
Gorgeous dry biscuit taste with good length. Very difficult to distinguish from "real" champagene and at a very reasonable price.
In the best Laithwaites' tradition of an unusual source of a great wine, surprisingly economic..
We bought this case to celebrate the arrival of a new grand-daughter and we couldn't resist sampling it before she has actually arrived. Good decision!
